The government annonced today that inflation stayed steady in February, in spite of fears that we are headed towards a recession. This is expected to take some pressure off the Federal Reserve, which is considering a new round of cuts in interest rates. (more…)

In this buyers market, it is a good idea to get your home in as good shape as possible before you start marketing it. With a significant inventory to choose from, buyers are very selective about their choices, and they will either opt for a home in top condition, or will expect a sizable price discount for a home which isn’t. Did you know that if you sell hour home at the end of 2007 and you open a 1031 exchange before the New Year you get to defer any capital gain taxes due until 2009?

At its core, a 1031 exchange is designed to accomplish one simple goal: to defer capital gains taxes on property being exchanged for an equal or higher value property. But homeowners turn to 1031 exchanges to carry out a variety of business strategies. Post-wildfire landslide prevention

With the October wildfires in Southern California behind us, many people in the affected areas are concerned about landslide risk following the fires. It’s a known fact that landslides commonly occur in connection with other major natural hazards such as wildfires, heavy rainfalls and earthquakes.

Don’t make any significant purchases between your home loan’s approval and the actual closing date, warns Ilyce Glink at Inman Real Estate News. Your lender will pull an additional credit report just before closing to make sure you are still capable of paying your mortgage.
